Louisville, Ky. (WHAS) -- The Shawnee Arts and Cultural Center offers violin lessons through scholarships and fee based instruction. The program was launched six weeks ago by community violinist Akhilah Cherry. “It’s something that helped me and kept me out of trouble, so why not share that with others,” Cherry said. Nubia Bennett enrolled her son Malik and he’s one of the first six children to play. “We wanted it to be the rule not the exception that all the kids they are surrounded by are doing positive, constructive things,” Bennett said.
